Staff Promotions: Olga Feldman has been promoted to Principal Consultant, James Nicoll to Consultant, and Tom Simpson and Emma Richmond both to Senior Analyst.

World Conference on Transport Research 2007: Olga Feldman presented four papers at the 11th World Conference on Transportation Research, June 24-28, University of California, Berkeley, involving DSC work on DELTA model development, on testing the land-use/economic impacts of transport scenarios using TELMoS, on the wider welfare benefits and the GDP effects of transport schemes and on SimDELTA model - a microsimulation model of household location. The papers can be found in the published papers section.

Transport and Spatial Development Group meeting 2007: Olga Feldman gave a presentation to the Special Interest Group SIG-1 on "Experience with using microsimulation model SimDELTA: noise level in the model" at the University of California, Berkeley, on 25 June 2007.

Staff: We are pleased to announce that Dr Tim Whitehead has rejoined the firm as a part-time Managing Consultant. He previously worked for DSC during 2003-2005, when his responsibilities included a series of research projects for the British Urban Regeneration Association (BURA) and the assembly of planning policy information for use in the Greater Manchester Strategy Planning Model (GMSPM) and the Transport/Economic/Land-use Model of Scotland (TELMoS). Immediately before that he was with the Transport Studies Unit at the University of Oxford, where he worked with DSC on a study of the effect of urban quality on business location. More recently he was Director of Development for the City of New Westminster, British Columbia.

Transport Policy: David Simmonds contributed to a recent conference on "How the Eddington Report Will Transform Transport Policy". The paper can be downloaded from the bottom of the page.

Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting: David Simmonds presented a paper "The use of land-use/economic modelling in transport planning: Experience with DELTA" to a poster session at the the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting in Washington DC on 22 January.
