Transport/Economic/Land-Use Model of Scotland (TELMoS)

The Transport/Economic/Land-use Model of Scotland (TELMoS) was developed in 2004-2005 as a replacement for the CSTCS Model. It was commissioned by the Scottish Executive to extend the new Transport Model for Scotland (TMfS) to full land-use/transport interaction. The fully-modelled area of TELMoS covers the whole of the Central Belt, Southern Scotland and Eastern/North-East Scotland, with an upper-level regional economic and migration model which covers the whole country. It was be the first DELTA model to be based upon data from the 2001 Census of Population.

The planning policy inputs to the model were revised in 2006, following a period of consultation with the local planning authorities. Further changes are currently underway. These involve extending the coverage of the model to the whole of Scotland, including the Orkneys, Shetlands and Western Isles.
